Eyes of the Beholder

CONCEPT ART

In Eyes of the Beholder, the objective is to create a narrative multi-figural composition. Set in the 1900s when Beijing Opera rose to popularity, the illustration depicts the moment a young girl falls in love with the art form. The stage itself is a personification of the girl’s hopes and dreams. But while the foreground is large and imposing, it is blurred, bringing focus to the main character. The light from the cracked door further highlights the figure among the dark audience.
